Pastor Adeboye In Road Construction Saga! …As Monarch Urges him to relocate Redeemed University to home town + Church authority kicks against him

AdeboyeEbullient man of God and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is in the news again. The highly anointed and spirit-filled pastor some time back awarded the construction of about a 100-kilometre road leading to his paternal hometown, Ifewara in Osun State. Prior to this decision by the pastor, the Osun State government had planned to embark on the rehabilitation of the road and the award of the contract to RATCON had gotten to a mature stage, but Adeboye hijacked the decision, thinking that the government would be slow in its bid to re-construct the road.

It would be recalled that the man of God located the church’s secondary school, the Redeemed International College in the town and this may have given him a lot of concern about the said road. This road has easy proximity to Ife, Ondo and Ilesha where majority of the students of the secondary school reside. Global News scooped that the Osun State government is not happy with this move and have ordered for the stoppage of work on the road.

However, the Adimula of Ifewara, Oba Hezekiah Adeniyi has also urged Pastor Adeboye to relocate the Redeemed University to the town. This is a clarion call from the monarch who wants the pastor to use his personality and connection in ensuring further development of the town, economically because it is a known fact that today in Nigeria, many towns should not have been recognized if not for the location of higher institutions there. From Nzukka to Kaduna down to Ago Iwoye, these towns were further enhanced economically and socially with the presence of ivory towers. Presently, the Redeemed University is located on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway of the church’s camp and a large expanse of land had also been purchased at Ede, which is to be the permanent site of the school.

Another issue brewing on in this case is about the church authority which outright kicked against the idea of Pastor Adeboye relocating the Redeemed University to his home town, saying that the church belongs to no individual and that the pastor should not copy the likes of Bishop David Oyedepo who after establishing the Covenant University also sited the Passmark University in his native home, Omu-Aran in Kwara State. Anyway, wherever the pendulum swings, Global News will surely keep you updated.
