CBN GOVERNOR DIVERSIFY INTO FULL TIME MECHANISED FARMING

imageThe Governor of the apex bank Godwin Emefiele is seriously thinking about life after his tenure in the banking and corporate world . Global News gathered that Emefiele despite his tight schedule has purchased over 200 hectares of land somewhere in Owode Egba in Ogun state,South -West of Nigeria.

Those who have had opportunity to see the gigantic investment further disclosed that the project is in a class of its own and can compete with any farm elsewhere in the world ,as the CBN governor spared no cost to contribute his own quota to the agriculture sector of the economy since the country is looking elsewhere to diversify her economy from oil.

The farm is neatly fenced round from the prying eyes of intruder which makes it difficulty for anybody to have access into what is going on there but we learnt that there are different section for poultry ,snails ,palm plantations,piggery,fishery , cattle rearing , rabbitry and fishery.

One thing that Emefiele’s farm has done to the area is that it has opened up the area to the outside world, since he stepped into the area he created access roads to link his farm to the community, not only this he employed some of the indigenes of the are to work for him.

Question that will be going on in the mind of many is how he is able to combined his tight busy schedule as CBN governor and especially now that the economy is going through a turbulent time, one needs not to go far to look for answer .His wife is the brain behind the day to day running of the farm, Global News gathered that she comes to the place every day to see that things are properly put in place especially the welfare of the staff.

Godwin Emefiele has been Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria since June 3, 2014. He served as Chief Executive officer and Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc. Emefiele served as Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc. since 2001. He served as Executive Director in charge of Corporate Banking, Treasury, Financial Control and Strategic Planning of Zenith Bank Plc. and had been Management team since inception. Emefiele has over eighteen years of banking experience. Emefiele served as director at Zenith Bank Plc and Zenith Bank (Gambia) Limited. Before commencing his banking career, he lectured Finance and Insurance at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and University of Port Harcourt, respectively. Emefiele serves as Director of ACCION Microfinance Bank Limited. He is also an alumnus of Executive Education at Stanford University, Harvard University (2004) and Wharton School of Business (2005). Emefiele holds a B.Sc. degree in Finance[2] 1984 and an MBA Degree in Finance in 1986, both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
