Crash: Buhari, Aides Yet to Congratulate VP Osinbajo
President Muhammadu Buhari and his top aides are yet to congratulate Vice President Yemi Osinbajo after his close shave with death when chopper crash landed enroute a campaign rally in Kabba, Kogi State on Saturday.
Though the VP and his crew escaped the incident unscathed, Nigerians home and abroad have been congratulating him and thanking God on his behalf. Even politicians from the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have shown the human side in them by rejoicing with Osinbajo. But surprisingly, President Buhari and his top aides are yet to follow suit.
The PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Ayodele Fayose; former governor of Ekiti State are among those who swiftly showed concern over the safety of the VP and his crew.
Fayose, in his tweet said: “I rejoice with VP Yemi Osinbajo and thank God for keeping him alive today. I wish him quick recovery from whatever minor injuries he could have sustained in the crash. For me, sanctity of life goes beyond politics and I pray that God will continue to safeguard his life.”
Meanwhile, the President’s failure to show concern over the VP’s ordeal has incurred the wrath of Nigerians home and abroad. Some of the Nigerians who took to social media to express their grievances over the nonchalant attitude of Buhari described him as a coward.
They argued that if such incident had happened in another country, President Buhari and his media aides would have been quick to release congratulatory messages, but their silence on Osinbajo’s accident calls for serious concern.
