Kogi’s Senator Aidoko Disqualified from contesting
The Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in Abuja have upheld the ruling of a High Court restraining Senator Aidoko from contesting the Kogi East senatorial seat in the forthcoming election.
A High Court judgement which Aidoko challenged at the Appellate and Supreme courts and lost means he has been disqualified from contesting at this month’s general election in Kogi State, and his name is expected to be expunged from the list of contestants by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) any moment from now.
A statement signed by Air Marshal Senator Isaac Alfa reads in part that “Kogi people can now go ahead and elect credible people to represent them,” adding that “anybody who votes for Aidoko is throwing away his votes. If Aidoko continues to impersonate and takes part in the election, he is exposing himself to jail.”
