BREAKING: Actor Suspended By Actors Guild For Raping Minor
Moses Armstrong, a Nollywood actor, was suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria on Saturday for allegedly rapping a minor. The indefinite suspension was essential, according to AGN President Emeka Rollas, as a result of the guild’s inquiry into the claim.
This was said in a statement signed by Monalisa Chinda, the AGN Director of Communications and a veteran actress.
The announcement headlined ‘AGN suspends Moses Armstrong’ on Saturday. “Actor Moses Armstrong has been placed on indefinite suspension by the Actors Guild of Nigeria’s National Executive Committee following his detention by the police on suspicion of raping a minor,” it stated.
“Armstrong’s suspension was based on facts arising from the Guild’s preliminary investigations into the claim, according to a letter signed by National President Ejezie Emeka Rollas.
” Because the Actors Guild of Nigeria has been at the forefront of advocating against women’s rights violations such as rape, molestation, and all forms of abuse, the allegation against Moses Armstrong has the potential to tarnish the good image and reputation of our noble Guild if immediate action is not taken in accordance with the Guild’s constitutional provisions.”
Ejezie Emeka Rollas, the National President, described the development as “sad,” but added that “no one is above the law,” particularly when it comes to rape and abuse of women.
“‘While it is our responsibility to safeguard our members in the face of severe allegations, the law must take its course,’ the National President said.
“The actor is not expected to engage in any film production or Guild activity while on suspension.”
“In addition, the National/State Chapter Task Forces have been mandated to monitor all film sites and production sets throughout the country, as violations of the suspension regulations may result in further harsh disciplinary sanctions as provided by the AGN constitution.”
