FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INTRODUCES PROOF OF OWNERSHIP FEE FOR VEHICLES
The Federal Government has introduced the Proof of Ownership Certificate (POC) for all registered vehicles in Nigeria. This new policy, set to be implemented nationwide, requires vehicle owners to obtain the certificate annually, unlike the previous practice where it was only obtained when purchasing a used vehicle or changing the engine.
The POC will serve as official documentation of a vehicle’s legal ownership and will include details such as registration information, license plate number, model, year of manufacture, owner’s name, and address. The implementation of this policy will require vehicle owners to pay a minimum fee of N1,000 for the certificate.
