The Rots In Lagos SUBEB ….Board Awards Multi Billion Naira Contract Without Due Process
There is no doubt that the Lagos State government under Mr Akinwunmi Ambode is trying to make his marks by giving the residents the dividends of democracy through his people oriented programmes that cut across all sectors. However ,despite the kind gestures of the Ambode led government there are some people and parastatal who are trying to go against his instructions to follow rule of law and due process. One of such parastatal is the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board headed by Mr Ganiu Sopeyin. This magazine gathered that the board chairman in conjunction with one Mrs Bosede Adelaja who is the secretary of the board and Mrs Taiwo Alaka-Yusuf who is in charge of procurement are awarding contracts running to billions of naira without going through tenders and due process to their cronies and friends. We gathered presently that they are awarding contracts for renovations, furniture and the rest.
One of the company awarded the contract to is L&K said to be owned by a friend to the board secretary Mrs Adelaja .It was also gathered that in the last three weeks they have hurriedly awarded contracts worth over N1b without going through the necessary processes. Another sore point in the award of this contracts is that they always pay 60% upfront and it’s alleged that out of it 20% always goes for kick back after the projects has been readily inflated above normal. Though they’re doing everything possible to cover this illegal and shady deal but many people who are aware of what’s going on are not happy with the whole camaraderie despite the zero tolerance of Ambode led administration for corruption.
According to a reliable source who disclosed that they are doing everything secretly so that the governor may not know because if he knows they are in big trouble . All efforts to reach the concern individuals didn’t succeed as they are not picking their phone to hear their own side of the story as at the time of going to the press.
