How 2019 Ambition Made Buhari Succumb to Tinubu
President Muhammadu Buhari, who was not in good terms with the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recently made a u-turn to make peace with the former Lagos State governor, but a source close to Mr President said the move is solely because of his second term ambition.
Tinubu was extremely instrumental to Buhari’s success at the 2015 elections, but shortly after his swearing-in, they both fell apart as the latter smartly fenced the former from participating actively in his government. He also debarred Tinubu from taking crucial decisions for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
However, having realised that his second term ambition would be dead on arrival without Tinubu’s support, Buhari quickly made moves for reconciliation.
“But Tinubu can’t be fooled again this time around, and that is why he is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that proper agreements are reached. But I’m sure Buhari has his plans too,” our source squealed.
Meanwhile, many Nigerians have criticised President Buhari’s second term ambition, advising him to step aside.
