Gov Ajimobi Draws Battle Line with Amosun, Endorses YAYI
The battle line is draw between Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State and his Ogun State counterpart, Ibikunle Amosun, following the former’s public endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, otherwise known as Yayi as the new governor of Ogun State.
Some days ago, Governor Ajimobi was quoted to have endorsed YAYI at the 50th birthday celebration of wife of Sen. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi, who represents Oyo South in the National Assembly, and the Yeye Okanlomo of Ibadan land, Chief (Mrs.) Zhikrah Aduke Akanbi.
Speaking at the event, Ajimobi said that “My brother here, Yayi, by God’s grace you will be the next Governor of Ogun State. I know some people in Ogun State won’t like what I just said but you know me, I say things the way I see it.”
The statement has subsequently stirred controversy in the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly between governors Ajimobi and Amosun.
Governor Amosun is not supporting YAYI to succeed him, as he prefers someone else, and he is currently said to be disappointed in the endorsement of YAYI by Ajimobi.
A source in Amosun’s camp told our Correspondence that he now considers Ajimobi a traitor, who cannot be trusted.
“Oga (Amosun) expected Ajimobi, being his colleague, to be on the same page with him in a sensitive decision like this, and he is really disappointed to have got the reverse,” our source squealed.
