Gov. Amosun And His Adviser Egbetokun In War Of Words – I will slap you – Amosun – If you dare, I will reply you 5 times

AmosunAmosuForget about the cosmetic arrangement between the governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Honourable Shina Egbetokun, his erstwhile senior special adviser on Political Matters who also happens to be the former speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly. Global News can tell you reliably that all is not well between the two gladiators of Ogun politics who combined together to ensure the ouster of former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) through ‘politricks’.We can also exclusively tell you that the governor and his embattled special adviser nearly broke each other’s jugular recently. You may ask why. Anyway, Global News gathered through a reliable source close to the duo that Honourable Egbetokun whose office is near Governor Amosun’s at the Oke Mosan seat of power engaged the number one citizen of the state in a show of shame. This action, however, resulted in the two political bigwigs shouting and threatening to slap each other. We learnt that Egbetokun, who wished to fulfill his oath as an adviser to the governor told him pointblank and without fear that things were not going well in the state, most especially among their followers and party faithful, not leaving out the many complaints from the entire people of Ogun State.

Egbetokun further stressed that part of the complains from the people is that the governor only uses all the monies coming into the state for physical projects alone not minding the fact that the next election is fast approaching and that the governor should endeavour to spend on party faithful and ensure money circulates within the state. This act will stand as an assurance for victory during the next polls.

With this statement, the governor who actually believes he knows more than anybody and that he does not need any advice from anyone got angry and immediately, his temperament got aroused; hence, he shouted at the former speaker, saying “Shut up, keep quiet, what do you think you are saying?”

Showing that he too was a man of high temperament, the ex-speaker also replied the governor saying, “No, you should listen to me because I am more a grounded grassroots politician and I know what people are saying about your administration.” This statement from Egbetokun further infuriated the governor who then took it personal by threatening to slap the former speaker. Meanwhile, Egbetokun, who is also known for his ‘jankara’ lifestyle gave it back to His Excellency daring that if governor Amosun slapped him once, he would reply the numero uno citizen of the state five times.

However, when the issue was getting out of hand and the civil servants who were present at the scene of the event, the Oke Mosan government office were flabbergasted that someone could have the effrontery to challenge the authority of the ‘Almighty’ governor Ibikunle Amosun, the aides and other top government officials thought it wise to mediate and bring the situation under control. After the intervention of these senior government officials, people thought that would be the end of the exchange of words, but alas, the former speaker threatened to resign and also told the governor that he could use members of the Ogun State House of Assembly to impeach him and that if the governor is in doubt about his ability to do this, he should wait and see. This forced those that mediated to call Egbetokun to order.

It could be recalled that during the days of former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Egbetokun, then a PDP member worked against the government of his then boss, using all the powers he had in his arsenal to destabilize the state in connivance with those who took over from Daniel. Immediately OGD was defeated at the polls, Egbetokun cross-carpeted to the ACN and he was duly compensated by the victorious Ibikunle Amosun for a job well done.
