Real Reasons Tinubu’s Political Empire Crumbled In Ekiti

Tinubu.jpegMany people are still wondering how on earth Ayodele Fayose emerged the governor-elect of Ekiti State at the expense of Kayode Fayemi and his more vocal APC cohorts. It could be recalled that in some states where elections were recently held, APC governors were known to always leave their own domain and campaign for one of them who is on the verge of either contesting for the first time or re-contesting for another term. At the campaign venues, these governors, probably all of them from the South West and other places, sing songs of solidarity for their candidate.

In the case of Ekiti State, many people are in the dark as to why Fayose defeated Fayemi. Even though, some political watchers know very well that Fayose is more of a grassroots man than Fayemi, the real reason JKF was booted out is still unknown to them. Waka About can authoritatively tell you that it was the youths alongside students of the state that voted their governor out.

According to a student of the University of Ado-Ekiti, the governor, on his emergence as the number one citizen of the state displayed some anti-student traits in him. He was said to have ordered soldiers and mobile policemen to mount the gate of the school and prevent any student who could not pay the increased school fees of N100,000 from entering the premises let alone allowing such student to sit for the year’s final exams. This act obviously infuriated the students back then and they all went on a three months’strike before their lecturers joined. The money, according to the student is still being paid up till date. Governor JKF never knew then that the students had hatched their plans for his ouster.

In other words, some analysts are of the view that APC leader, Bola Tinubu’s political empire which has been ruling the entire southwest for about four years now may be in gradual shambles despite all the hardworking efforts of the party’s governors in the region. This is due to the unexpected loss of Fayemi and the seeming threat of Senator Omisore to the second term ambition of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State. If President Jonathan and his PDP soldiers can storm the South West and take over these two states, then every other state in the region should be well prepared for a Goodluck Tsunami come 2015.

Anyway, this is a big lesson for other APC governors not to take the issue of their youths as unimportant because they form the nucleus of eligible voters in any society. A word is enough for the wise.
